SmarterBook Discontinued: What Students Use Now
SmarterBook is no longer in service. If you were using it, here is a straight account of what to do next, including what our own tool, HWSolved, does and where its limits are.
What discontinued means for you
A discontinued extension stops validating keys and stops loading its panel. Anything stored only inside that extension goes with it. If you kept a local record of answers or notes, export it now rather than later, because access to that data usually disappears well before people get round to retrieving it.
There is no patch, no rollback, and no version to pin. It is worth stating clearly because the instinct is to treat it as a bug.
How to choose the replacement
Most people pick the first thing they find and then discover in week four that it does not support the one platform their hardest course runs on. Do it the other way round. Write down the platforms you are actually enrolled on this term, then rule out anything that does not cover them.
- List the platforms your current courses use
- Confirm coverage before you look at price
- Check whether it explains reasoning or only returns answers
- Look for a refund window and a real support channel
- Read your school's policy on outside study tools
