McGraw Hill AI Assistant: Put SmartBook on AI Assistance

SmartBook was designed to be slow. It re-asks what you already know, drops you into reading assignments between probes, and counts your confidence rating as part of the grade. The HWSolved McGraw Hill AI assistant handles that loop for you: it reads each probe, answers it, rates confidence, and keeps moving until the assignment is closed out.

What it actually does while you are gone

Once the panel is open on a Connect or SmartBook assignment, you press Solve All and step away. The AI assistant reads the current probe, sends it out for an answer, clicks the choice, sets the confidence toggle, and advances. When SmartBook interrupts with a "read this resource" panel, it works through the interruption instead of stalling on it, then picks the queue back up.

Progress is not simulated. The extension is clicking the same elements you would click, in the same order, inside your own logged-in session, so McGraw Hill records the work exactly as it would if you had sat there doing it by hand.

Pacing is the part most tools get wrong

A tool that answers forty probes in ninety seconds does not look like studying. Speed Control sets the pace anywhere from 0.2x to 5.0x, and the behavior layer fills the gaps: Response Timing adds think-time that scales with how long the question actually is, Study Session Timing spends real seconds on reading panels, and Smooth Navigation move the cursor in curves rather than teleporting it.

  • Speed Control from 0.2x to 5.0x, set per session
  • Response Timing and Adaptive Timing tie delay to question length
  • Study Session Timing and Natural Timing for the in-between screens
  • Session Breaks pause the run like a real study break
  • Quick Close with Ctrl+Shift+X clears the panel instantly

An AI assistant that never misses is a problem

Perfect scores on every adaptive probe stand out in an instructor report. Balanced Mode makes the McGraw Hill AI assistant miss on purpose at a rate you choose, and Natural Variance varies the confidence ratings it submits so they are not all identical. You end up with a believable transcript instead of a flawless one.

Setup takes about two minutes

Install the extension, paste the license key from your email, open a SmartBook assignment, and pick McGraw Hill from the platform screen. The panel docks in the corner of the page with Solve, Solve All, a speed slider, and a live status line. Nothing gets installed on the McGraw Hill side and nothing about your account changes.

Emergency stop

Ctrl+Shift+X closes the panel instantly, and Elite adds a Quick Close mode that shuts the run down completely rather than just hiding the interface. Worth knowing before you run anything in a shared study room.

McGraw Hill assignments are graded on completion far more than on brilliance, which is exactly the kind of work worth automating. Hand the clicking to the McGraw Hill AI assistant, keep the studying for the exam that actually counts, and check the panel when it tells you the assignment is done.
